Contributions to Australia-China Friendship and Study

Colin came back from his stay in China in 1966 and has since built strong educational ties with China. He founded the first degree in 1975, Brisbane Australia where for the first time, an Australian could specialise in learning about asian studies.  The degree was then know as a Bachelor degree in Modern Asian Studies. Until this time, White Australia did not have any place for a person to complete their degree completely on Asian studies. Languages could be learnt, history, politics, culture and economics. It was a first for Australia and under the direction of Gough Whitlam.
